K-On!

K-On! is one of the first animes I've watched besides from Card Captor Sakura and Little Witch Acadamia, and I discovered it when it was still on Netflix. I don't remember which year, probably 2019 or 2020? I always try to find the time to rewatch this anime. Now as of recent it's inspired me to learn how to play guitar and be in a band!

What is K-On?

K-On! is an anime that aired in 2009 on TBS (this show is as old as me holy fuck), directed by Naoko Yamada and created by Kyoto Animation. It first started out as manga written by Kakifly from 2007-2012, and now the manga, K-On! Shuffle is still ongoing, starting in 2018.

A highschooler named Yui has a hard time finding a club, but her childhood friend Nodoka has already found one. Meanwhile, Ritsu pulls in her friend Mio into starting the Light Music Club. Tsumugi discovers the Light Music Club, looking for the chorus club, but joins anyway. Yui joins the club but then feels bad because she doesn't play a real instrument. The club plays Tusbasa wo Kudasai for her and Yui gets convinced to join. Later on, Azuza joins the club later in the series.

K-On! is a slice of life anime, so it's right up in my alley! All the characters are adorable and gets lots of character development throughout the series! I think about this anime occasionally.

Involvement in the fandom

No involvement except watching Youtube videos...the majority of the fandom are racists and/or nazis, yikes!!!

My favorite headcanons are:

Soundtrack

The soundtrack for K-On goes abosolutely hard, and is one of the main carrying features of the show. I listen to them in my free time, and I recommend that you listen to a couple!

My personal favorites:

Ura-On! and Ura-On!!

The Ura-On series are 16 shorts featuring the K-On! cast, published in 2009-2011. They're crudely drawn and aren't connected to the story in any way, but they're some fun if you want more K-On.

Movie

K-ON! Movie is a feature length movie that aired in 2011-2012. The K-On! band travels to London for their graduation trip, while Yui, Ristu, Mio, and Mugi plan a gift for Azuza.

This movie is sorta connected to Season 2, but not really, the timeline is really weird. The movie ends with the ending to Season 2 but toned down a bit. Mostly this movie is a bunch of filler, so it isn't really good from a critical standpoint, but I don't really care ^-^ it's fun watch!!

Conclusion

K-On! is such a lovely show and I'm so glad I found it! It has hit me in the feels too many times everytime I rewatch it! Cute girls doing cute things is the best way I can describe this show. K-On walked so Bocchi the Rock could run!
